JOVIAL Acronym for Jules' own version of international algorithmic language. A programming language designed by Jules Schwarz of System Development Corporation for military command-and-control systems. It was based on the international algorithmic language (IAL), otherwise known as Algol 58, suitably extended for its purpose. JOVIAL was implemented on a number of military computers, and is still in use for military projects in the US.
