impala (or pala) Long-legged, medium-sized African antelope. Long, lyrate horns are found only on the males. Both sexes have sleek, glossy brown fur with black markings on the rump. Length: to 1.5m (5ft); height: to 1m (3.3ft) at the shoulder. Family Bovidae; species Aepyceros melampus.
