Farnborough

Farnborough (färn´bərə), town (1991 pop. 48,063), Hampshire, S England. It is the site of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, which does experimental work in aeronautics. Chemicals, electrical goods, and scientific instruments are produced. A civil and military air show is held by the Society of British Aerospace Companies biennially in Farnborough. "Farnborough Hill" was the home (1881–1920) of Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. With her husband and son she is buried in the crypt of a church that she had designed.
