Eastbourne

Eastbourne (ēst´bôrn), town (1991 pop. 86,715) and district, East Sussex, SE England. Eastbourne is a popular resort and conference center with a 3-mi (4.8-km) terraced promenade along the sea front, and hosts an important grass-court tennis tournament. In addition to tourism, industries include specialized manufacturing and engineering, book distribution, and e-commerce. Educational institutions include a campus of the Univ. of Brighton.
