Astraea a Roman goddess associated with justice, said to have been the last deity to leave the earth, who having lived among humankind during the Golden Age and in retreat in the mountains during the Silver Age, finally left the world for heaven during the evils of the Bronze Age. Her name, which means ‘starry maiden’, was later used as an epithet of Elizabeth I.
