Flotow, Friedrich von
Flotow, Friedrich von (b Teutendorf, 1812; d Darmstadt, 1883). Ger. composer. Lived mostly in Paris and Vienna. Intendant, ducal court th. at Schwerin 1855–63. Wrote ballets, chamber mus., and 30 operas of which only Martha (1847) and Alessandro Stradella (1844) seem to have outlived him.
