Belsen
Belsen Village in Lower Saxony, Germany, site of a concentration camp established by the Nazis during World War II. Originally it housed Jews to be exchanged for German prisoners of war, but an estimated 30,000 people were murdered or died here of starvation and disease, before the camp was liberated in April 1945.
