Independent, 4-year, coed. Awards bachelor's degrees. Founded 1850. Setting: 79-acre suburban campus. Endowment: $151.4 million. Total enrollment: 2,118. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 12:1. 2,932 applied, 49% were admitted. 52% from top 10% of their high school class, 83% from top quarter, 99% from top half. 13 National Merit Scholars, 32 valedictorians. Full-time: 2,109 students, 56% women, 44% men. Part-time: 9 students, 33% women, 67% men. Application fee: $0. Comprehensive fee: $34,050 includes full-time tuition ($27,474), mandatory fees ($150), and college room and board ($6426). College room only: $3892. Room and board charges vary according to board plan and housing facility. Part-time tuition: $3434 per course.
Collegiate Environment:
Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper, radio station. Social organizations: 160 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities, local sororities; 40% of eligible men and 32% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Alpha Phi Omega, Christian Fellowship, Students for a Just Society, Black Student Union, Habitat for Humanity.
