The College of Arts and Sciences

Kansas City, Missouri

Established in 1951, Grantham University, now with more than 8,300 active students, is a private institution that specializes in educating the working adult student. Grantham's mission is to level the playing field by making a high-quality college education available to adult learners, based on the combined academic and economic principles of accessibility, affordability, and academic accountability. Since 1951, Grantham has contributed to the formal education of thousands of working adults. Students from each of the fifty states and many countries around the world have discovered the benefits and convenience of the Grantham distance education model.

Grantham University has designed its degree programs to meet the needs of busy working adult students. Students can complete their course work at times and places that fit their busy schedules. The University's academic model is student centered, with online faculty support focused on academic accountability.

Grantham University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council, 1601 18th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20009 (http://www.detc.org).

Distance Learning Program

Grantham University's degree programs are offered through distance education, or e-learning, formats. None of the programs requires on-campus or in-classroom attendance. Grantham students are not required to log on to the Internet on specific days or at specific times. Students enjoy self-paced, self-directed methods of study and course completion. This unique method of learning is advantageous for those students with full-time jobs or who have family or other commitments that do not allow them to participate in a regular classroom environment.

Other students who are attracted to the Grantham model are those who travel extensively or find that the nearest college or university may be hundreds of miles away. Grantham University also attracts thousands of military students who appreciate the benefit of being able to complete classes from anywhere in the world. These military students never have to worry about frequent deployments or transfers, because they can take their course work with them and complete it when and where it is convenient.

Grantham offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. All of Grantham University's degree programs include an emphasis on both theory and applications, and each program also incorporates general studies courses designed to help students learn to communicate clearly, formulate and analyze problems, and develop well-thought-out solutions.

Delivery Media

Grantham utilizes the latest technologies to deliver courses electronically to students worldwide. Students have access to course materials, announcements, e-mails, and grades through Grantham's online student information system. Online testing and grading provide students with immediate results to ensure they can work at their own pace. New students are required to take DE-100, a course designed to help them understand Grantham's distance education/e-learning method of course completion and to inform them of the wide array of services offered by Grantham.
