Description:

State-supported, comprehensive, coed. Part of University System of Maryland. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees. Founded 1900. Setting: 33-acre urban campus. Total enrollment: 4,003. Faculty: 202 (110 full-time, 92 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 17:1. 2,270 applied, 47% were admitted. 10% from top 10% of their high school class, 20% from top quarter, 60% from top half. Students come from 20 states and territories, 19 other countries, 0.4% Native American, 1% Hispanic, 95% black, 0.2% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 2% international, 50% 25 or older, 10% live on campus.
