Independent Roman Catholic (Jesuit), university, coed. Awards bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and first professional degrees and post-master's certificates (also offers continuing education program with significant enrollment not reflected in profile). Founded 1863. Setting: 240-acre suburban campus with easy access to Boston. Endowment: $1.2 billion. Research spending 2003-04: $24.2 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $14,055 per student. Collegiate Environment:
