palaeolatitude The position, relative to the equator, of a geographic or geologic feature at some time in the past. The evidence for the position may come from palaeoclimatic data (see PALAEOCLIMATIC INDICATOR; and PALAEOCLIMATOLOGY) or, more usually, a palaeomagnetic determination (see PALAEOMAGNETISM).
