Faber, Heinrich
Faber, Heinrich, German music theorist, teacher, and composer, known as Magister Henricus Faber; b. Lichtenfels, c. 1500; d. Olsnitz, Saxony, Feb. 26, 1552. He was a teacher at the Benedictine monastery of St. George near Hamburg from 1538, and then entered the Univ. of Wittenberg in 1542, receiving the degree of Master of Liberal Arts in 1545. He was rector of the Cathedral School in Naumburg from 1544, and in 1551 he was appointed lecturer at Wittenberg Univ. He then was rector at Olsnitz.
